People Photography
People are often most interesting when they are simply being themselves. This collection brings together photographs that capture character, emotion, movement and those fleeting moments that can reveal something about a person without words.
My approach to photographing people is observational. Rather than simply recording a portrait, I look for expressions, gestures, interactions and moments of concentration or spontaneity that tell a story.
The collection includes people encountered in rural Australia, everyday environments, events and moments of activity, alongside photographs where the surrounding environment is an important part of the story. From a quiet expression to a moment of intense concentration, each photograph aims to preserve something authentic about the person and the moment.
Light, composition and timing play an important role in these images. Sometimes the photograph is about the person; at other times, the setting, atmosphere or interaction between people becomes equally important.
These photographs form part of the broader Silent Spectator collection — observations of people, places and moments captured over more than 30 years of photography.
